I jumped right to the biggie when it comes to resolution topics: Fitness. The gyms are currently jam-packed with people who haven’t seen the inside in…I’d say about 11 and a half months. Many of you are vowing to work out more and that is great! I have struggled with seasons where I have to force myself to work out at all. I love the benefits of exercise, but I don’t always enjoy it in the moment. I have also fallen into the mindset that if I am not sweating then it isn’t worth it. This is simply not true. I have since bought into the idea that even a 15 minute space of time making intentional movements each day is a healthy choice.
Here is the one thing I am suggesting in the category of fitness: planks. I have done a plank challenge before and was able to work my way up to holding plank position for 3 minutes and 45 seconds! I could have kept going (and should have) but I stopped and am now back down to just over a minute. I highly recommend the 1 month plank challenge. The picture below gives you the goal for each day.Just follow the suggested amount. It may lead you to seeing what little increases can do. It can create momentum for a new fitness routine. The plank position engages your core, arms, and legs. It will make you focus on your whole body with the core being the center of it all (as it is in most exercise moves). You can Google "Plank Position" to get more information on what a proper position looks like. There are a few different types. Choose the one that challenges you the most. After you complete one month, consider trying a different pose and completing the challenge again!
